connecting.ruhr connects postdocs from the UA Ruhr with a young, regional business network. Together, the Research Academy Ruhr and the Junge Initiativkreis Ruhr invite postdocs to discuss their career prospects in the industry. In addition to keynote speeches on the career requirements and skills of postdocs and a panel discussion on switching to the industry, the interactive format also offers the opportunity for networking and 1:1 discussions with the participating companies.

The aim is to get to know career prospects and career requirements, to discuss expertise and know-how when switching to the industry and to identify career conditions. connecting.ruhr thus supports the possible transition to a career in the industry and serves to strengthen networking between science and business in the Ruhr region. Transparency and open dialog, as well as direct insight into regional companies, are key features of the interactive format. The kick-off event will take place on 5 November 2024 from 14:00-16:30 in the Innovation Hub of accenture, a partner company of Initiativkreis Ruhr, at Zeche Zollverein in Essen (Kokereiallee 20, 45141 Essen). 

Registration for connecting.ruhr is possible until 23.10.2024.

Note:
The focus is on matching skills acquired in university research with the requirements and needs of regionally based companies. In preparation for the event, the Research Academy Ruhr is therefore offering a workshop on personal skills analysis for career planning for UA Ruhr postdocs on 30 October 2024 from 10:00-12:00, the results of which will also be incorporated into the panel discussion.
