Karriereforum addresses UA Ruhr’s advanced early researchers of all fields and takes place twice a year. During the one-day events, postdoctoral researchers have the opportunity to receive comprehensive information on career planning and can enter into intensive discussions with distinguished personalities from science and business.

What does Karriereforum offer?

Karriereforum demonstrates individual career planning options in a very concentrated and efficient way. Take the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts on higher education policy and career-related topics on a high level. Additionally, Karriereforum enables (inter-)disciplinary networking with other researchers in the Ruhr Area. Participants can arrange their schedules individually and select between different formats:

1. Exchange in small groups on selected topics with distinguished experts

Discussion groups of five to fifteen persons with a focus on the intensive exchange between the participants by circulating information and gaining insights into internal details. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions in an intimate atmosphere and to discuss with the present guests and high-level experts.

2. Individual consultations on individual career topics

Individual consultations are approx. 25-minute face-to-face interviews with experts including representatives from funding and research institutions, coaches or company representatives. Here you can get advice on your very individual questions.

  • University and non-university careers
  • Job profile professorship
  • Career in research and development
  • Science management
  • Career abroad
  • Questions on founding a company and self-employment
  • Publishing strategies
  • Internationalization of universities
  • Research funding
  • and much more
